MEDNETWorld.com Demonstrates Seamless Exchange of Health Information

Minneapolis, MN – February 5, 2008 - MEDNET participated in IHE (Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise) North America 2008 Connectathon with a system implementing IHE Integration Profiles that define how health information is seamlessly exchanged among care providers. It was held from January 28 through February 1 at the Hyatt Regency Chicago. About 400 engineers from over 75 organizations have gathered to test more than 140 systems.

The IHE (http://www.ihe.net/) is an initiative by healthcare professionals and IT vendors to improve the way healthcare systems share information by improving the level of integration and degree of interoperability among healthcare IT systems. The IHE promotes the coordinated use of established standards such as DICOM, HL7, W3C, and IETF. It features cutting-edge technology and standards in an interactive environment using clinical scenarios. IHE provides a detailed implementation and testing process to promote the adoption of standards-based interoperability by vendors and users of healthcare information systems. By successfully completed testing of IHE profiles, MEDNET has successfully proved the ability to deliver interoperability across local, regional, and national health information exchanges.

This interoperability testing event at the IHE North America 2008 Connectathon will be highlighted at the http://www.himssconference.org/exhibition/interop.aspx) Interoperability Showcase to demonstrate how interoperability can improve the patient care process and how to link health information to give clinical care providers the right information care.

The IHE profiles MEDNET implemented support patient identifier lookup (PIX/PDQ profile), document sharing across security domains (XDS.b profile), and audit trail logging / node authentication.
